Internet Sites

About a week or two ago I go an invitation to a website called Hulu.com. Hulu is a site that hosts many TV shows and a couple of movies. Now there are many sites on the internet like this, the thing that makes the site stand out is that its completely legal. How is this possible? Its a joint venture between Fox and NBC to put their shows online. It features shows from Fox, NBC, Bravo, Fuel TV, FX, Sci Fi, Style, Sundance, and Oxygen. Some of my favorite shows that are on the site are: The A-Team, News Radio, The Office, Ghost Hunters, Futurama, Arrested Development, American Gladiators, Scurbs and Top Chef. Now some of them only have clips of the show up but they are continually listing new episodes and putting new shows up. Now the site is in private Beta so if you wish to have an invite leave me a comment I think I still have some left.

One other site that I got an invite to is PMOG.com. PMOG stands for The Passively Multiplayer Online Game. Its an interesting game to say the least. Once you create an account you download a tool bar for firefox that sits at the bottom of the firefox window and can be hidden easily. Its easily summed up from their about page:

PMOG is an infinite game built on individual network histories, transforming our web surfing into ongoing social play. With a game head-up display in Firefox, players can bomb each other, wage war over web sites, and lead other users on web missions. Ordinary web sites become caches for items and currency. PMOG fuses an MMO into our WWW.PMOG stands for Passively Multiplayer Online Game. Players play without playing; clicking around the internet turns into experience points and currency.

Theres missions you go on that take your around to different blogs or sites that hte players have found useful. I think of it as a better stumbleupon. You lay mines on webpages and if people find these they shake your browser and you could lose your armor. Or you could find a crate with mines and the like inside of them. Over all its pretty interesting concept but it can get annoying and I don’t quite know how long I’ll keep it going. It needs a bigger base of people to actually be useful I think, and needs to add new items to make it more intresting. It did give me an idea for my own game though, I’ll post that idea later though. This site is in private beta as well, if you wish to have an invite leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

Last.fm

You may remember before I mentioned that you can view my most listened to music through my Zune card (here). Well I’ve been sick of using the Zune software so I found some alternatives. The first is using this program called zAlternator(link seems to be down) (direct download here) which allows you to use your Zune with other types of software such has iTunes, Windows media player and Winamp (which I use). This allows you to synch and organize music without happening to use the Zune software at all. Now however it doesn’t track what songs you play, which is a feature that I like. Many people have been using this software called Last.fm. It tracks your songs that you last played and lists them and other statistics about them on their own website. You can take a look at my profile here. You can still see my Zune card for what I’ve played on my Zune.

THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!!

THE PATRIOTS LOST THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!

There is no 19-0 teams and no perfect records other then the Dolphins. I think its karma. The Patriots got caught cheating and Rodney Harrison was suspended for PED (performance enhancing drugs) and one of the most fined players in the NFL if not the highest one was on the team. Its just karma. The Patriots got away with a lot with minimal penalties but they lost the one game that mattered. You can make all the excuses you want but they lost the one game that mattered and they are no longer perfect. I can go to bed happy now. In other news is it just me or is the Super Bowl becoming more and more commercialized? They seem to have a sponsor for everything. Soon the Super Bowl is going to be know as the Budweiser Go Daddy Fox Dell Doritos Pepsi Coke Super Bowl Show. Other then the long names the Super Bowl commercials were pretty good. I have to say my favorite was probably the Coke commercial using the giant thanksgiving day balloons. I also have to mention the Audi commercial right at the beginning of the Super Bowl with the Godfather theme to it. I hope to later this week write a blog dissecting some of the ads to see if I can see what psychological themes they are using to get people to buy their product. Lucky for me I am poor and won’t be buying any of their products.
